Camas City Council gears up for 2022

The Camas City Council met with several department heads earlier this month to discuss some of the biggest issues facing the city in 2022 — including “unsustainable” staffing shortages at the Camas-Washougal Fire Department; the completion of Camas’ six-year Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces (PROS) Comprehensive Plan; and the possibility of subarea planning in the city’s historic downtown area.

Report spells out costs of Camas-Washougal Fire Department needs

According to a consultant’s report delivered to Camas and Washougal city council members this month, in order to meet the needs of current and future Camas and Washougal residents, the cities’ joint fire department will need to replace two fire stations and build a third within the next 10 years.

Staying connected on the softball field

As a full-time Running Start student taking online classes through Clark College, Natalie Collins doesn’t see the inside of the Washougal High School building very much these days. But thanks to her time spent as a member of the Panthers’ slow-pitch and fast-pitch squads, Collins still feels like she’s a part of the greater school community.

Westlie Ford sets up shop in Washougal

A local company, with a long history in the community, is transitioning from its historic roots to expansions, renovations and relocations of several departments. The Westlie Ford parts and service departments, as well as business administrative offices, have been moved from 314 N.E. Birch St., in downtown Camas, to the dealership's sales location at 40 S. Marina Way, in Washougal.
