Proficiency in Word and Excel are a must as you continue to develop your skills and talents to get the job done. Your grammar, spelling, customer service skills are sharpened and fine tuned. You’ll learn the ins and outs of processing ads, inputting advertising copy, proofing ads and taking corrections, plus a lot more!

Circulation: Transportation/Distribution Driver - Part Time

The Columbian currently has a part-time position open for a person who is committed to providing exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the newspaper from the plant to the carriers in a reliable and timely manner. Duties include the accurate counting and loading bundles of newspapers onto trucks and delivering to drop locations. Work hours are approximately 25 hours per week, Wednesday – Sunday, 11:15 p.m. to finish.

The qualified candidates:
Must be 18 years old.
Must have a valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
Must be able to drive, stand, stoop, bend and deliver up to 600 bundles of newspapers, weighing up to 30 lbs. each.
Must have superior ability to work well with others and as a team member.
Must have good basic math skills.
Experience driving one ton and two ton step vans a plus.

Circulation Outside Sales Leader

The Columbian Newspaper has an immediate opening for an entry level Circulation Sales Leader. Our Sales Leaders are front-line employees who represent The Columbian to the public and their sales teams are the driving force in our company’s new-customer acquisition efforts.

As a Sales Leader, you’ll be responsible for building a sales team of youth contractors from the ground up, leading them in the field, and working to develop and maximize your team’s production in hands-on door to door direct marketing.

The successful candidate must be energetic, able to meet challenges head-on, exhibit a history of innovative thinking, and be comfortable working with young people. An excellent driving record is also required.
