A man with a dark complexion - wearing an orange bandana over his face and armed with a semiautomatic handgun - robbed the E Street Market Wednesday, at around 10:45 p.m. The suspect fled after receiving the money. This surveillance photo is of the suspect when he entered the store the first time--prior to the robbery.

The E Street Market & Deli has been robbed by a man described as having a dark complexion, according to Washougal Police.

The suspect is also described as standing approximately 5’4″. He was last seen, wearing black and white Converse-type sneakers, a zip up black hoodie and blue jeans.

The robbery occurred Wednesday, around 10:45 p.m., when the suspect – wearing an orange bandana over his face and armed with a semiautomatic handgun – directed the store clerk to the cash register and forced her at gunpoint to give him an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled after receiving the money.

According to Sgt. Allen Cook, the area surrounding the market was cordoned off by police. A K-9 track was done, but the suspect was not located. It is not known if the suspect fled the area on foot or by vehicle. The clerk was very shaken up but not harmed during the robbery.

The suspect originally entered the store, looked around and then left. The store clerk thought he may have taken something, so she went to the front door and opened it to see where the man went. At that point, the clerk was confronted by the same man, who was then wearing a bandana and holding a gun.

The E Street Market & Deli is located at 1414 “E” St. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Detective Thad Eakins at 835-8701.
