One of the bartenders at the Birch Street Uptown Lounge will soon offer an informative event about gin.

KJ DeBoer will conduct a tasting and discussion of the classic Old Tom and London styles as well as Northwest micro-distillery gins Monday, April 11, at 7 p.m. The event, which will cost $35 per person, will also include a light dinner buffet.

Lounge owners Kevin and Marlene Taylor, along with DeBoer and bartender Dennis Kinsey, serve pre-prohibition and classic cocktails, four varieties of whiskey and a selection of draft beers and international and Washington wines. Non-alcoholic beverages include Pepsi products and lemongrass, cucumber and juniper berry soda from the Dry Soda Company.

Food options include meat and cheese plates, pulled pork sliders, and gourmet macaroni and cheese. The lounge has recently added Bailey’s, amaretto, port and kahlua-filled chocolates, as well as desserts such as chocolate lava cake and cheesecake.

“Sinatra Saturdays,” featuring John English, are planned for April 16, April 23, April 30 and May 7, at 7 p.m. There will be no cover charge.

The Uptown Lounge opened in December 2010 in downtown Camas, after a four-month renovation project. The business is located in the historic Clara Street Building, which was built in 1928.

Birch Street Uptown Lounge, 311 N.E. Birch St., is open Monday through Saturday, from 4 p.m. to midnight. Happy hour is from 4 to 6 p.m. For more information, call 210-7219, email BirchStreetUptownLounge@yahoo.com or www.BirchStreetUptownLounge.com.
