Jemtegaard book fair is next week

Jemtegaard Middle School librarians are currently preparing for the school’s upcoming book fair.

The event will be held Tuesday, March 29 and Wednesday, March 30, from 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Thursday, March 31, from 7:45 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., for a family night event.

Jemtegaard is located at 35300 E. Evergreen Blvd., in Washougal. For more information, call 954-3412.

ASL variety show is March 28

A variety show that will include dance numbers and American Sign Language interpretations to popular music will be held Monday, March 28, at the Camas High School theater, 26900 S.E. 15th St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show.

Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students, $2 for children ages 3 to 5, and children ages 2 and younger can attend free of charge. Additional donations are also welcome.

Proceeds from the second annual show will benefit children attending a residential school in Zambia, who are in need of funding for food, water and uniforms. The event is being organized by Larissa Hillman, as part of her senior project.

Skills Center annual dinner set

The community is invited to the Skills Center’s annual fundraising dinner on Friday, at 6:30 p.m.

The meal will be planned, prepared, hosted, served and bolstered by the Skills Center Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts program. The menu will feature a mixed grilled trio of steak au poivre, roasted chicken breast and pork tenderloin.

Tickets, $30 per person, $17.50 of which is tax deductible, can be purchased by calling Robbin McColley at 604-1054.

Proceeds will be used by the foundation to provide equipment, technology and other learning enhancements for all Skills Center programs.

Local students land on college deans lists

University of Minnesota

A Washougal resident was recently named to the University of Minnesota dean’s list for fall semester.

Maria K. Bugajski earned a grade point average of 3.66 or higher while taking 12 or more credits.

Warner Pacific College

Several Camas-Washougal residents earned places on the Warner Pacific College dean’s list for the fall 2010 academic term.

Earning a 3.5 or greater grade point average were Brandon Birchem, Robert Cummings, Suzanne Downs, Tia Lacy, Patricia Lusk, Tyson Miller, Crystal Sheldon and Cheri Withey of Camas; and Darren Hergert, Danny Howard, James Kamerath, Jean Leary and Lance Lijewski of Washougal.

University of Dayton

Camas resident Sarah Yedlick, an English major, was named to the fall semester dean’s list at the University of Dayton by earning a 3.5 or higher grade point average.

Car show is April 9

Owners of classic and specialty cars are invited to participate in the Hayes Freedom Car Show on April 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event, which will be held at Hayes Freedom High School, 1919 N.E. Ione St., in Camas, is being organized by Kyler Jackson as part of his senior project.

Jackson will have his 1988 Fiero GT with a rebuilt motor and stereo system on display.
