The New Seasons Market in east Vancouver will be open in time to shop for Thanksgiving dinner.

The grocery store that will anchor the Fisher’s Landing Marketplace, at 164th and McGillivray Blvd., is expected to open Wednesday, Nov. 9. Grand opening festivities are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

This summer, construction crews have been busy transforming the 42,000-square-foot former Albertson’s space into the first New Seasons Market in the state.

“This is a special milestone for our company,” said New Seasons president and chief executive officer Lisa Sedlar. “Washington has always been a big part of our home-grown sourcing practices, and Clark County residents have helped our company succeed since the beginning. We’re thrilled to join a community that’s so connected to who we are.”

The store’s shelves will be stocked with thousands of products from the Pacific Northwest, including items grown, handcrafted or produced in southwest Washington by 24 brand new suppliers who were discovered at a vendor fair during the summer in Vancouver.

“I’ve been waiting for a store in my backyard for 11 years,” said Jeremy Fogle, of Camas. “Beyond being a great place to shop, New Seasons’ commitment to the community will benefit local non profits and schools.”

Ten percent of the company’s after-tax profits are donated back to area organizations. Fogle, a father of four, is chief financial officer of New Seasons.

The store will stock conventional and organic groceries, from Frosted Flakes to free-range chicken raised in Washington. There will be deli salads, lunch meats, salad and soup bar, made-to-order sandwiches, and a grill, as well as cheese, seafood and meat counters, homemade sausages, produce, wine and wellness and home goods departments.

The dining area will include a fireplace, and a community room will be open to the public. The store has 170 employees. More than one-half of them applied during a job fair in September.

New Seasons Market started in 2000 with one store and approximately 70 employees. After the Vancouver store opens in November, the company will have grown to 12 stores and more than 2,200 employees.

New Seasons Market at Fisher’s Landing Marketplace, 2100 S.E. 164th Ave., Vancouver, will be open daily, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, call 760-5005 or visit www.newseasonsmarket.com.
