The issue of new, bigger and higher transmission towers will be on the next Washougal City Council workshop agenda.

The workshop will be held Monday, at 6 p.m., in the council chambers at City Hall, 1701 “C” St.

Council members are expected to discuss if they want to pursue a resolution similar to the measure recently approved by the Camas City Council. On March 19, the Camas council approved a resolution requesting consideration of alternatives to placing the 500 kilovolt power lines within city limits.

The Bonneville Power Administration’s plans for the I-5 Corridor Reinforcement Project include running a transmission line from Troutdale, Ore., to Castle Rock, Wash. Several of the project’s segments travel through Camas, including Lacamas Lake, the North Urban Growth Area, the Camas Meadows Corporate Center and the Goot Park area.

The project’s segments also travel through Washougal, following the current easement on the city’s west side and the Port of Camas-Washougal marina area.
