Three juveniles have been arrested on charges related to vandalism that occurred earlier this week at the Camas Municipal Pool at Crown Park.

According to Camas Police Department Sgt. Scot Boyles, three teenagers are being charged with second degree criminal trespass and second degree malicious mischief. He said the suspects’ identities were revealed after a Camas Parks and Recreation Department employee discovered their posts on Facebook bragging about the incident.

The vandalism took place sometime in the evening on Wednesday, June 27 or the early morning hours on Thursday, June 28. Boyles said the vandalism occurred in the pool deck area of the facility; glass from a broken bottle was found in largest main pool.

According to Parks and Recreation Manager Jerry Acheson, three of the facility’s pools were drained of 255,000 gallons of water on Thursday, and are now being cleaned and refilled. The pool is expected to open by Monday.

The pool, located at 120 N.E. 17th Ave., had just opened for the summer season on Monday, June 25. Classes have been canceled; students will either receive refunds for classes missed, or make up the classes later this summer. Class sign-ups scheduled for Saturday at the pool will still take place.

The incident remains under investigation.
