Port office is site of emergency drill

First responders participate in training

Port of Camas-Washougal employees look on as Camas-Washougal Fire Department paramedics and a volunteer "victim" takes part in this morning's emergency drill. In recent years, the port has held similar events at its industrial park and airport.

An emergency drill was conducted at the Port of Camas-Wasougal offices in Washougal this morning.

Camas-Washougal Fire Department firefighters and paramedics, as well as port employee and volunteer victims participated in the exercise that involved a scenario where an explosion had occurred in the basement level maintenance shop area of the port offices.

Following the active drill, the agencies participated in a debriefing session to review response procedures, focusing on what was done correctly and what could be improved.

The effort was led by Don MacLardy of Emergency Safety Solutions.
