Camas-Washougal Soroptimists are hoping to attract a crowd of 150 guests to an event that will raise money for food programs and other services in the local area.

The third annual “All ‘Bout Children” dinner and auction will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, from 6 to 10 p.m., in the Camas Community Center, 1718 S. E. Seventh Ave.

“The last two years, we have — with the help of the community — been able to provide over $16,000 for fighting hunger and supporting family needs for transportation, shelters, the stop human trafficking campaign and scholarships for women and girls,” said Marilyn Brown, co-chairperson of the ABC event with Janis Rink.

The dinner will be catered by Kelly Bruce, from K’Syrah Catering, Wine and Bistro, of Camas. A grand drawing will include a TV, while silent auction items will include a wine tasting for eight at Maryhill Museum of Art, original artwork and a weekend stay at a ranch.

The Soroptimists are seeking additional donations of services, gift certificates, discounts on supplies or cash, for the fundraiser. Event sponsorship opportunities are also available for $500. Donations are tax-deductible.

Tickets, $34 per person, are available from Soroptimist members. Donations of jars of peanut butter will be accepted at the event.

Last year’s ABC event raised $5,000 and generated donations of 400 jars of peanut butter and other nonperishable food for a weekend backpack program in local elementary schools. The program, coordinated through the East County Family Resource Center, in Washougal, provides backpacks of food for children in need.
