Local schools will be closed on Friday

Snow is expected to continue

Thursday's snowfall added to the picturesque scene on Friday afternoon along the Lacamas Creek Trail in Camas. Another storm is expected to pass through the area on Friday night, and leave an additional 2 to 4 inches of snow.

The Camas and Washougal school districts have announced that all schools will be closed on Friday, Feb. 7, due to poor weather conditions.

All before and after-school activities are also cancelled.

Both school districts released students three hours early today, when weather conditions continued to deteriorate by mid-morning.

In Washougal, a power outage at Cape Horn-Skye Elementary School and Canyon Creek Middle School forced an even earlier closure at 10:30 a.m.

Forecasters are calling for frigid temperatures in the teens to continue, with strong winds close to 35 miles per hour near the Gorge.

Several inches of snow has already fallen, and on Thursday evening snow showers are expenced to continue. On Friday, there will be snow flurries thorughout the day, with another weather system moving in in the evening.
