The company that provided the camera and mapping technology for Google Street View plans to move its worldwide sales and marketing office and U.S. headquarters to Washougal.

Pen Clark, the marketing director of Immersive Media Company, said six employees will relocate from Vancouver to Washougal Town Square, 1700 Main St., Ste. 222, in November.

There are plans to add four employees before the end of the year, to also work in the areas of engineering and research and development operations, in the 2,340 square foot suite.

Washougal Sport & Spine Physical Therapy moved from Suite 222 to 136, in March.

Immersive Media introduced a 360 degree full digital camera system in 2004, as well as a viewer for 360 degree content that worked online. The company has also hosted streaming live concerts utilizing its imLive system and created viewers for iOS and Android.

Other new technology has included a wireless 4G 360 degree camera system, to be deployed by helicopter.

Clients include Lexus, Land Rover, The Black Eyed Peas and ABC News.

Thomas McGovern, vice president of Immersive Media, said in a press release the company is experiencing rapid growth, and he is excited for it to become part of the growing and creative community in downtown Washougal.

“As a fast growing technology company, we feel it’s important to be in a creative space, and Lone Wolf [Development] helped us find that here in Washougal,” he said. “Innovations such as our im360VR product just launched on the Samsung Gear VR are the lifeblood of our business, and so having a location that embodies that spirit is very important to us.”

Wes Hickey, owner of Lone Wolf Development, said the opportunity for informal communication and socialization is critical for the success of creative and knowledge-based businesses.

“We are focused on attracting entrepreneurial businesses, along with unique and interesting food, beverage and retail choices to the downtown area,” he said.

The global head office for Immersive Media Company is located in Kelowna, B.C., while the innovation center is in Santa Monica, Calif. The research and development office is in Dallas, Texas.
