The Washougal School District is inviting patrons to a community design symposium to solicit input into the early design phase of construction of three new schools.

The meeting is set for Thursday, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Jemtegaard Middle School.

LSW Architects has been selected to design the new schools and will lead the meeting.

“The district is excited to start work on the school construction process the community supported during the capital bond in February,” said Dawn Tarzian, WSD superintendent. “An early step is to solicit community input into what kinds of learning experiences these new buildings should facilitate for students now and those we will educate in the future.”

Mike Stromme, who will step in as superintendent after Tarzian’s retirement this month, will be attending and assisting with the symposium. A separatemeeting will be held earlier the same day to gather WSD staff input.
