Three people die in SR-14 collision in Skamania County

Driver crosses the center-line, crashes head-on into van

Three people, including a 7-year-old boy, were killed in a head-on collision on state Route 14 in Skamania County Saturday night.

According to the Washington State Patrol, just after 8 p.m., a blue 1997 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driven by Heath T. Martin, 24, of North Bonneville, was traveling east near milepost 33 when it crossed the center line and crashed into a westbound white 2005 Toyota Sienna van carrying five people. The incident occurred three miles west of North Bonneville, in front of a Skamania County Fire District 5 station.

Heath, the sole passenger in the pickup truck, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Inside the Toyota Sienna, driver Anatoliy I. Goy, 47, and a 7-year-old boy, died at the scene. Mariya P. Goy, 49, and an 11-year-old boy were critically injured and transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver. A 9-year-old boy was transported by ambulance to a landing zone where he was picked up by Life Flight and taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland to be treated for his injuries.

All of the occupants of the Toyota Sienna, who were wearing safety restraints, are from Kent, Wash.

Skamania County Emergency Medical Services and Skamania County Fire Districts 4 and 5 responded to the scene, in addition to the WSP and Skamania County Sheriff’s Office.

The highway near the scene of the collision was closed following the accident, and did not re-open until 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
