“Go Green!” is the theme for the next First Friday in downtown Camas.

The free event, March 6, from 5 to 8 p.m., will include children’s activities and displays by Master Gardeners, Waste Connections, Camas Farmer’s Market, Master Composters/Recyclers, E-CycleWise LLC and Evergreen Habitat for Humanity, at Journey Community Church, 304 N.E. Fourth Ave. There will also be information about the “green” mission at Grass Valley Elementary School and other schools.

Non-perishable food items for children will be accepted at Journey, for the Inter-Faith Treasure House, in Washougal.

An activity will involve First Friday attendees locating “lucky leprechauns” at participating businesses. For each leprechaun found, the finder will receive a ticket that will be entered to win prizes from merchants.

Each person who wears green that evening will receive a ticket, and those who wear a green hat will receive three tickets.

Lucky leprechaun “passports” will be available in stores, as well as the Downtown Camas Association table at Journey and the Second Story Gallery, upstairs at the Camas Public Library, 625 N.E. Fourth Ave. A reception, for five female artists, will feature live music at the gallery. For more information, visit www.secondstorygallery.org.

Eartha the Clown will make an appearance with her Moluccan cockatoo, “Major,” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., in downtown, to teach earth awareness, appreciation for all life and the importance of saving what we have for future generations.

Information about the various ways that downtown companies are caring for the environment will be posted in merchants’ windows.

Navidi’s Olive Oils & Vinegars will host Leslie McMillan, at 322 N.E. Cedar St. She recycles sweaters into dresses and sells them, with the proceeds going to the Facing Homelessness organization.

Complimentary green hair tinsel will be provided at The Wild Hair, 418 N.E. Cedar St. Participating businesses will offer special deals and giveaways.

The Stellar Jays will perform from 5 to 8 p.m., at Camas Gallery, 408 N.E. Fourth Ave., and the Bylines Duo, will entertain at 8 p.m., at Birch Street Uptown Lounge, 311 N.E. Birch St.

Complimentary s’mores will be available at Northeast Fourth Avenue and Birch Street, weather permitting.

First Fridays are monthly art, dining and after hours shopping events, coordinated by the DCA.
