A former local photographer has been recognized as being among the top 5 percent of wedding professionals.

Shelby Schmidt, the owner and lead photographer at Something Minted Photography, has received a WeddingWire Couples’ Choice award.

The honor recognizes individuals who demonstrate excellence in quality, service, responsiveness and professionalism. Recipients of the award were determined by reviews from newlyweds.

Something Minted Photography is located in Seattle.

Schmidt is a 2008 graduate of Camas High School.

“It’s where my love for photography developed,” she said. “I took my first photography class at CHS with Doug Huegli, then another at Clark College before diving into more of the business side of things.”

While at CHS, she competed on the gymnastics team. During her senior year, Schmidt participated in the Running Start program at Clark. She received an associate in arts degree in 2009.

Schmidt earned a bachelor’s degree in communication, with an emphasis in broadcast news, at Washington State University, in Pullman, in 2011. She was on the President’s Honor roll and was a member of the WSU cheerleading team.

Schmidt worked in radio news for one year before becoming the owner of a photography business, Shelby Schmidt IMAGERY. She recently changed the business name to Something Minted Photography.

Schmidt still has family in Camas and is available to photograph weddings in this area. For more information, call (208) 907-1774, email hello@somethingminted.com or visit www.somethingminted.com.
