The owner of an event planning company is playing a major role in the creation of the third annual Clark County Wedding Show.

Wendy Sturm, with We Plan It, is the lead designer of the event, scheduled for Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Clark County Event Center, 17402 N.E. Delfel Road, Ridgefield.

“The lead designer decorates the common areas and works with all vendors to ensure their booths are well laid out,” she said. “I also facilitate all aesthetics for the stage for the fashion show.”

Sturm is a Camas resident. Her company, previously based in downtown Camas, is now located at 1798 S.E. Columbia River Drive, Vancouver.

The wedding show will include caterers, representatives of venues, cake designers, floral designers, photographers, entertainment, invitations, consultants and stylists.

Castaway Cruise & Travel, a home-based business in Washougal, will have a booth at the show.

Company owner Shaunette Baker said her goals include continuing to establish her name as a destination wedding and honeymoon expert.

“Attending bridal shows is the best way to get your name out there, as well as meet brides face to face which is honestly huge,” she said. “My goal would be to be able to show brides how amazingly easy it is to have destination weddings and how affordable it actually is.”

Baker has been in business for three years. She recently completed an honorary agent education program at Disneyland.

In May, Baker plans to participate in training for destination wedding and honeymoon agents provided by the Romance Travel Forum, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

More than 60 vendors are expected to participate in the wedding show, providing food and wine samples, a limousine showcase, tuxedo fittings and hairstyle trial-runs.

Pauline Mulcahy and Donna Hays, of Abacus Event Rental, are the show’s producers.

Tickets can be purchased at the door and online for $8 each at www.clarkcountyweddingshow.com.
