A half-day workshop about the strategies involved in running a successful crowdfunding campaign will be offered to local businesses.

The session is set for Thursday, from 1 to 4 p.m., in the Aspen Room, at Vancouver City Hall, 415 W. Sixth St.

The workshop is co-hosted by the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, Columbia River Economic Development Council and the City of Vancouver, and sponsored by Wells Fargo.

Information will be provided by Gregory Paley, a business attorney based in Seattle. Topics will include raising equity, leveraging a marketing strategy and Washington State’s new crowdfunding equity law.

Paley will assist area businesses to create a plan to follow before determining if crowdfunding is the best fundraising method for the companies. There will also be breakout sessions to assess companies’ “crowdfundability” and strategy.

Equity crowdfunding, which became legal in Washington in November 2014, allows businesses to solicit investments from individuals who are not formally accredited investors. It provides sources of new funding for emerging and startup companies.

The workshop is $25 per person. For more information, contact the GVCC at 694-2588 or biz@vancouverusa.com.

Space is limited, and advance registration is required at www.vancouverusa.com.
