Now is the time to plan for a new I-5 bridge

When a new I-5 bridge is built in 20 years, it will be built with two additional lanes in each direction. It will be high enough to accommodate river traffic. Oregon will add more lanes to downtown Portland, it will be done right to accommodate all types of traffic, including light rail.

Today, both I-5 and I-205 are reaching maximum capacity within five years.

Today, citizens of Clark County and many in Oregon are saying we need a bridge at 192nd Avenue.

It is time our elected officials pay attention to what is really going on and get a new bridge started at 192nd Avenue to I-84 in Oregon. Now, before traffic gridlock happens and nothing has been done.

It is past time for the economy of Oregon and Washington to start planning for a very large influx of California companies and people to start moving up here due to drought and over-population, and their high cost of doing business in California.

Now is the time to work together for both states to prosper in the next 20 to 30 years.

Oh yes, did you know I-205 was built to accommodate light rail? Now may be the right time to get it done. Are we adding this to our 20-year plans?
