John Payne, Clark County deputy treasurer, is retiring after 30 years of service to the county.

“I greatly appreciate John’s service in helping build a strong treasury operation over the years,” said Treasurer Doug Lasher. “I will miss him and his service to me and this office.”

Besides serving on many internal county committees, Payne has served as president of the Washington Finance Officers’ Association. He also has served on a number of committees in the Government Finance Officers’ Association. Association committees establish recommended practices to improve government financial management nationwide.

“I am beginning the process of filling his position for deputy treasurer,” Lasher stated.

A retirement party will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver.

Payne previously worked in the Clark County Auditor’s Office for three years.
