Stuff the Bus collection efforts underway

What began as a friendly competition between Camas and Washougal high schools 10 years ago has evolved into an event that promotes community and working together.

Last year, students in both districts collected approximately 50,000 pounds of food for families and programs in Camas and Washougal.

This year the Stuff the Bus effort, a community project of the Camas-Washougal Business Alliance, runs through Friday, Dec. 2.

Community members are invited to drop off non-perishable canned or boxed foods, and household supplies, to any Washougal or Camas school. Supporters can also donate “Turkey Bucks,” at the Washougal or Camas Safeway stores to support holiday meals delivered to families in need.

On Friday, Dec. 2, school buses will be parked in front of the Camas and Washougal high schools, while students and staff stuff them full of donated food.
