In anticipation of the severe weather that forecasters are predicting to arrive later tonight, the Washougal and Camas school districts have announced that classes and all school activities will be canceled on Thursday, Dec. 8.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Wednesday and Thursday. Up to 5 inches of snow, high winds and freezing rain are predicted. Many Washougal and Camas school district families live in higher elevations, where weather can be more severe.

“We are cancelling school to ensure the safety of students, staff and their families,” the WSD website post states. “While we know that we can safely get students to school tomorrow, the forecasted events do not appear to allow for a safe way to transport students home tomorrow afternoon.”
