The founder of a Washougal company has been chosen to serve on the board of directors for the National Precast Concrete Association.

Ron Sparks, general manager of Columbia Precast Products, was elected to serve a three-year term on the board during the association’s convention in Austin, Texas.

“He brings a great deal of knowledge, expertise and talent to the table,” NPCA President Ty Gable said in a press release. “We are fortunate to have him working to strengthen the precast concrete industry.”

The National Precast Concrete Association, in its 52nd year, provides technical, educational and safety resources to nearly 900 member companies located in 12 countries, 50 states and eight Canadian provinces.

Sparks has previously served on the association’s manhole and sustainability committees. He has also been president, vice president and secretary of the Pacific Northwest Precast Concrete Association’s board of directors, and he is a member of the American Concrete Pipe Association Northwest.

Columbia Precast Products, located at 2930 Ford St., opened in March 2013. The company manufactures manholes, catch basins and other pre-cast concrete products for use in sanitary sewer, water transmission, storm drain and utility systems. Custom products include boat ramps and precast railroad crossings.
