Luncheon to benefit Children’s Center

Former Rhode Island Congressman Patrick Kennedy will be the guest speaker at an event that will raise money for the Children’s Center.

The luncheon will be held Friday, June 17, at The Heathman Lodge, 7801 N.E. Greenwood Drive, Vancouver. The doors will open for registration at 11:15 a.m., and the luncheon and program will begin at 11:45 a.m.

Tickets are $125 per person, $230 per couple, or $1,150 for a table for 10. The luncheon is presented by the Tod and Maxine McClaskey Family Foundation.

Kennedy founded the Kennedy Forum, which collaborates on mental health issues. He co-founded One Mind for Research, which focuses on brain research. Kennedy, a son of Sen. Edward “Ted” Kennedy, is co-author of “A Common Struggle: A Personal Journey Through the Past and Future of Mental Illness and Addiction.”

The Children’s Center, located at 13500 S.E. Seventh St., Vancouver, is a private non-profit organization that provides mental health services for children, youth and families. Each month, the Children’s Center serves approximately 900 children and families.
