Tara Cotner, store manager of MHD Studio, in Washougal Town Square, said the inventory changes often. It includes sofas, dining sets, rugs, coffee tables and housewares. Many of the items have been used to stage condominiums.

An interior design company is attracting shoppers to downtown Washougal.

MHD Studio has been located in Washougal Town Square for more than two years. The company’s suite previously served as a storage space surrounded by windows, and potential customers could make appointments to see the furniture, lamps and pillows up close.

Regular retail hours were established in December 2015.

Most of the inventory inside MHD Studio has been previously utilized in the staging of condominiums and model units. Some new items have been purchased specifically for the store.

The inventory includes sofas, chairs, dining sets, art and flat screen TVs. There are also housewares, such as blenders, irons and hangars.

MHD Studio provides corporate and residential interior design and staging, furniture rentals and event planning services. The company, owned by Meri Hornberger, is based in Redondo Beach, California. There are also locations in Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago.

Tara Cotner is the store manager of the Washougal location. She is also the project manager and lead designer for MHD Studio, in the Portland area.

Cotner is a certified designer who has experience in visual merchandising, retail management and home consultation.
