A fundraiser for a new library in Washougal will involve painting with local artist Elida Field.

The “Prosecco and Paint” event will be held Thursday, Feb. 2, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Elida Art Studio, 735 N.E. Sixth Ave., Camas.

Each attendee will complete a landscape painting. No artistic experience is needed.

Field will teach participants how to mix acrylic paints, add texture to canvas and effectively use bright colors to make paintings “pop.”

The cost to attend, $65 per person, will include a wrapped 8 by 10 canvas, heavy body acrylic paints, brushes and instruction. Participants in the art class are invited to bring their favorite wines and appetizers to share.

The Friends of the Washougal Library will receive $30 of each registration fee.

The Fort Vancouver Regional Library District Board of Trustees has authorized Executive Director Amelia Shelley to engage in negotiations to purchase property for the future Washougal Community Library.

The location of the potential library site has not been released.

Registration and payment for the art class are due by Monday, Jan. 23. To register, email Rachel Lopez at ArtWithElida@gmail.com.
