Washougal's Steamboat Landing dock is closed after of portion of it recently became disconnected and made its way down the Columbia River. The missing piece has been located, and crews with Ballard Marine Construction are working to secure it. The closure could last up to two weeks.

Too much ice has led to part of the Steamboat Landing dock to float down the Columbia River.

The runaway dock has been located, and crews with Ballard Marine Construction, of Washougal, are working to secure it.

In the meantime, Steamboat Landing dock, located at state Route 14 and 14th Street, is closed.

“We are hoping to have repairs made within the next two weeks,” said Suzanne Grover, Washougal parks, cemetery and facilities manager. “The runaway dock needs to be secured so that it doesn’t slip further down the river.”

Grover said she is not sure what caused the dock to become a runaway.

“Likely the rings detached that hold it to the pilings,” she said.
