A Wapato, Washington man was cited for failure to drive on the right side of the road after being involved in an accident at State Route 14 and Milepost 17, in Washougal.

David Garcia Hernandez, 27, was driving a 2010 GMC Sierra pickup truck westbound Jan. 19, at 1:55 p.m., near 32nd Street.

Richard S. Janiszewski, of Washougal, was driving a 2016 Honda Pilot eastbound.

“The truck crossed over the center line, creating a head on/sideswipe collision with the minivan [in the eastbound lane],” said WSP Trooper Will Finn.

The vehicles came to rest in the roadway, according to the WSP report.

Janiszewski, 50, had facial lacerations. He was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, in Vancouver, where he was treated and released.

Hernandez was not injured. The cause of the accident is listed as inattention.

Finn said it was determined at the scene that drugs or alcohol were not factors. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and both vehicles were totaled.

The Washougal and Camas police departments provided traffic control. The Camas-Washougal Fire Department also responded to the accident. SR-14 reopened at 3:07 p.m.
