Papermaker golfers place third at Titan Cup

The Camas High School boys golf team beat Columbia River 6-4 to finish in third place at the Titan Cup Monday, at Camas Meadows.

Seniors Gage Clarkson, Sam Thomas and James Lee led the Papermakers to victory. Clarkson won his match 3 and 2, Thomas won 3 and 2 and Lee won 2 up.

Sophomore Derek Harker won 1 up for Camas. Freshman Owen Huntington won 3 and 2 and freshman Caleb Shira clinched a 4 and 3 victory.

Union defeated Camas in the first round, and then won the Titan Cup championship match.

Lee and Haruki Takada came up big for the Papermakers in the match play round against the Titans, winning 3 and 1. Shira and Harker rallied from two holes down with two to play to force an all-square finish.

Camas beat Heritage 162-225 in the first league match of the season Sept. 14, at Green Meadows.

Huntington led the Papermakers with a 1-over par round of 37. Shira added a 39, and Takada and Harker both chipped in a 43.

Camas defeated Columbia River 162-172 Sept. 13, at Camas Meadows.

Huntington finished with a 2-under par round of 34. Shira had a 41, Takada followed with a 42 and Matthew Cannon chipped in with a 45.
