In honor of School Board Appreciation Month, the Dorothy Fox Elementary School's Fox Pack Swingin' Ukes, directed by music specialist Dustin Hunley, performed during the Camas School Board's Jan. 22 meeting . Dorothy Fox students in grades 3-5 have had access to the ukulele group for the past seven years. The Camas "uke group" performs at local events throughout the area.

PUBLIC MEETINGS

Camas City Council: The council will hold its annual two-day planning retreat starting at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, and at 9 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, at Lacamas Lodge, 227 N.W. Lake Road, Camas.

Camas Public Library: The library board will meet Thursday, Feb. 1, at 6:30 p.m., at Camas Public Library, 625 N.E. Fourth Ave. For more information, call 360-834-4692.

LIBRARY PROGRAMS

Camas Public Library: Read to Cooper, the dog. Cooper will be at the library every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 5 p.m. Each session is 15 minutes long and advanced sign-up is required. The Simply Write: Critique Group meets every fourth Tuesday of the month at 4:30 p.m. Story Explorers, a new book discussion group for second- and third-graders and the student’s adult, meets every fourth Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Sign up in the library. Club K3 is held on the third Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m. Page Turners, for fourth- through sixth-graders and parents, is held on the first Tuesday of the month, from September to May, at 6:30 p.m. It is located at Lacamas Lake Lodge, 277 N.E. Lake Road, Camas. The Any Book Club meets every fourth Monday at 4 p.m., now until May. Teen Zine Club is on the first Wednesday of the month, from 3 to 5 p.m. This is for students in grades 7-12. Lego Club meets on the third Thursday of each month, at 4 p.m. The Pokemon Club meets every second Thursday at 4 p.m. The library, located at 625 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas, hosts weekly baby and family storytimes, in English, Russian and Spanish. Washougal Community Library: Voluntary Simplicity continues until Thursday, Feb. 1. The annual spring library book sale is Friday and Saturday, Feb. 2 and 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Washougal Town Square, 1700 Main St. Build It! is held the second Wednesday, of the month at 2 p.m. The library, located at 1661 “C” St., offers storytimes for toddlers and younger children on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. For more information and other library programs, call 360-906-4860 or visit www.fvrl.org.

SENIOR CITIZENS

Meals on Wheels: Lunches, prepared by The Meals on Wheels People, are served Monday through Thursday, at 11:30 a.m., in the Washougal Community Center, 1681 “C” St., Washougal. Meals on Wheels home delivery is available Monday through Friday. Volunteers are needed. Camas Senior Center: The seniors will be making their annual trip to Long Beach, Washington, for the crab feed on Saturday, Feb. 3. A bus will load at the Pendleton Woolen Mill parking lot, 2 Pendleton Way, Washougal, by 9 a.m. and return by 6 p.m. There is a $5 fee to ride the bus. Because of the late start for the dungeness crabbing season, the cost for the dinner is unknown. For more information, call LaRhea Steele at 360-433-6426. The seniors travel to the Red Wind Casino on the Nisqually Indian Reservation in Thurston County, Washington, on the third Monday of each month. Washougal Senior Center: The Washougal Senior Center provides coffee Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. through the 11:30 a.m. lunch, which is served by Meals on Wheels. On Monday, at 11 a.m., the center hosts a food bank, and at 1 p.m., a “hand and foot” clinic. On Monday and Wednesday, at 10 a.m., the center hosts an exercise class. On Friday, at 10 a.m., the class will be held in Camas. Billiards is played on Tuesday and Thursday, at 1 p.m. Music with Jeffree will be held on Tuesday and Music with Gabe is on Thursday, at 11 a.m. The watercolor class will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. On Wednesday, there will be an exercise class at 10 a.m., gift bingo at 11 a.m., and regular bingo at 1 p.m. On Thursday, the tai chi class (held in Camas) begins at 9:30 a.m. The center also hosts pinochle at 1 p.m. on Thursday.

VOLUNTEERS

Lost and Found Cafe: Meals are served to the community on Thursdays, at 6 p.m., at the Zion Lutheran Church social hall, 824 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas. Volunteer cooks are needed. For more information, call Inter-Faith Treasure House Executive Director Nancy Wilson at 360-834-4181.

Camas Community Education: The Camas Community Education winter class schedule includes Art Van-Go Drawing and Paints, Chefs in Training, day camps, Early Learning classes; a variety of enrichment classes, which include Lego building and engineering, Mad Science, My Dolly and Me dress design and tea, science olympiad; as well as language, safety and sports classes. Washougal Community Education: Winter classes for adults and youth include dance, first aid/CPR/AED, language and photography. Camas Parks and Recreation: Toddler and Me Yoga, for children ages 18 months to 5 years, is held each Wednesday, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Lacamas Lodge, 227 N.E. Lake Road. Cost of the class is $10 (drop-in fee), which includes one adult and one child. Each additional child costs $2. Winter camps include soccer, Kung Fu for kids, Toddler and Me Yoga, preschool sports classes, adult fitness, arts and crafts workshops, adult and pediatric first aid/CPR/AED classes and senior programs. Jazzercise Camas: Individuals are invited to try Jazzercise at no cost at Virtuosity Performing Arts Studio, 240 N.E. Third Ave., Camas. MISCELLANEOUS

Groundhog Dinner: The 29th annual groundhog dinner will be Saturday, Feb. 3, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Washougal United Methodist Church, 4020 “M” St., across from Washougal High School. Cost is $9.50 for adults, and children under 12 is $5. The menu consists of “John Sinden” sausage (groundhog) patties, mashed potatoes, sausage gravy, coleslaw, applesauce, green beans, biscuits, beverage and dessert. Take out is available, and 10 percent of proceeds go to Inter-Faith Treasure House.

100+ Women Who Care Clark County: The group will hold its first meeting Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m., at Salud! Wine Bar, 224 N.E. Third Ave., Camas. There will be a social hour before the meeting from 5 to 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.100womenclarkcounty.com.

Soroptimists International of Camas-Washougal: Soroptimist International of Camas-Washougal meets on the first Friday of each month at noon at Zion Lutheran Church, 824 N.E. ART GALLERIES AND MUSEUMS

Second Story Gallery: Second Story Gallery will feature the acrylic work of Alan Rose beginning Feb. 2 through Feb. 24. The gallery, located at 625 N.E.
