Leadership development conference set

The Southwest Washington Red Cross Youth Council will share its collective knowledge with middle and high school students during the sixth annual Leadership Development Conference Saturday and Sunday, March 9 and 10 at Camas High School, 26900 S.E. 15th St.

CHS hosts college and career event

The annual Camas High School college and career options fair will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the CHS gym, 26900 S.E. 15th St. During the event, students and parents may visit with representatives from two- and four-year colleges, technical schools and all military branches. There will also be workshops such as, “Demystifying the Financial Aid Process,” “College 101” and “Standardized Testing.”

Local student receives scholarship from WSU

Nicholas Lafrazia was awarded a $500 Charles W. Harrison Engineering Scholarship and a $2,000 Washington State University achievement award. The College of Engineering and Architecture awards the Charles W. Harrison scholarship to a student interested in engineering based on academic excellence in math and science.

Clark College scores high with Google

A first-year Clark College entrepreneurship club, Winning Innovations through Student Entrepreneurship, placed in the top 15 percent globally in the Google Online Marketing Challenge.

The challenge required teams of two to six students to build a campaign for a local business or non-profit organization that would drive business to their website. More than 2,000 teams entered, and W.I.S.E. earned the highest rating before making it into the semi-finals.

Megan Kelley of Camas was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Boise State University. Kelley is a 2011 graduate of Camas High School.

Kyle Ebersole of Camas and Jessica Young of Washougal earned degrees from Western Washington University in fall quarter 2011. Ebersole earned a bachelor of arts in psychology, and Young earned a bachelor of arts in theater.

Kierstyn Tuel of Camas has been named to the fall semester honor roll at Montana State University in Bozeman. To be named to the honor roll, students must earn at least a 3.5 GPA for the semester.
