Boldt, Olson to be sworn in Dec. 29

Superior Court Judge James E. Rulli will swear in Marc Boldt as County Council chairman and Julie Olson as a councilor for District 2 at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29. The ceremony will take place in the sixth-floor hearing room in the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. It is open to the public.

The new councilors were elected last month and will be seated on the board beginning in January. Both will serve three-year terms.

The swearing-in marks a change in Clark County government by adding two members to the three-member Board of County Councilors. The new positions were created by the charter approved by voters in 2014.

The charter adds a chair of the board as an elected position. Up to now, board members would rotate the responsibilities of chair on an annual basis. Another new council position is the result of the county being divided into four council districts, as called for in the charter.

The newly expanded board will hold its first hearing on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. The hearing will be in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.
