Local fans have described the Camas High School baseball team as gutsy, resilient and clutch all season, and those traits came shining through for everyone to see at Art Wright Field in Kent as the 4A Greater St. Helens League champions came from behind to beat Puyallup 10-6 on Saturday, May 11, to capture the 4A District 3/4 championship.
Local students earn degrees
Ten East County Junior all-stars, and two from Bridge of the Gods Little League, feasted on their competition at the District 4 baseball tournament.
The Camas High School gymnasts misplaced their equipment, uniforms and music, but that didn't stop them from winning the first session of the Winterfest Invitational Saturday, at the Naydenov Gymnastics Center in Vancouver. "This was one of the funniest meets because it was like we forgot everything," said freshman Alexis Sabatini. "But most importantly, we remembered to have a good time. That's the only way we can win is to have fun."

Tyler Weiss is doing whatever it takes to become a state champion. After wrestling with his Camas High School teammates for a few hours every day after school, the senior heads down to Clackamas, Ore., for another practice with the Cobra Wrestling All-Stars. He does this twice a week.
Clash at the Border weekend in Camas featured a return to greatness for Camas High School graduates Brent Richards and Nick Palodichuk. A total of 2,453 soccer fans packed Doc Harris Stadium Friday night, to see Richards, Palodichuk and the U-23 Portland Timbers take on the Abbotsford Mariners of British Columbia, Canada. Richards netted a penalty kick goal for the Timbers in the 37th minute, before Abbotsford bounced back to win the game by the score of 2-1. Palodichuk was the first one to congratulate Richards after his goal.
