Identity of adult woman has not been released

Body found in Little Washougal River

The body of a dead adult woman was found in the Little Washougal River on Monday.

According to a press release, at about 10:49 a.m. the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and East County Fire Rescue were called to the 200 block of Northeast Blair Road. Upon arrival it was confirmed that a deceased body was in the middle of the river.

The Clark County Technical Rescue Team wearing insulated dive suits, removed the fully clothed body of the woman from the water.

A tentative identification has been made. However, no information about the woman’s identity will be released until it is confirmed and family members are notified.

At this point, it is unknown how long the body had been in the water, or how the woman ended up there. An autopsy will be conducted by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The cause and circumstance of death are under investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit.

Other responding agencies included the Washougal and Vancouver fire departments, and Clark County Fire District 6.
