WSD is hosting a summer food program

The Washougal School District will be sponsoring a summer food service program Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 29.

Hot lunches and sack lunches will be offered free of charge for all children ages 18 and younger.

This is a USDA program that many communities offer to ensure that children who might otherwise go hungry, have access to a lunch during the summer months.

Meals will be served at Jemtegaard Middle School, 35300 S.E. Evergreen Highway. Breakfast will be served from 8:25 a.m. to 8:40 a.m., and lunch will be served from noon to 12:45 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. Meals must be eaten on site and there will not be supervision outside of the service hours.

Camas students graduate from Linfield

Two Camas residents were among the 637 graduates at Linfield College commencement exercises on May 29.

Kathryn Elise Schell DeVore earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications; and Margaret McKenna Loghry earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing.

Lyttle named ‘Student on Fire’

Violet Lyttle has been named Excelsior High School’s “Student on Fire” for the month of May.

“She has worked extremely hard to complete all the credits needed for graduation and her determination to reach this goal has been unbelievable,” a press release stated. “The staff has been so impressed with her ability to focus totally on this objective and be successful in receiving her diploma. We will miss her enthusiasm and spunk.”
