The East County and Camas Little League softball stars squared off in three games to determine the District 4 championship at David Douglas Park, in Vancouver. After East County beat in extra innings June 28, Camas defeated East County in back-to-back games Friday to become champions.

A standing-room-only crowd came to George Schmid Memorial Park Sunday to see Camas beat Cascade 10-3 for the 8-10 Washington District 4 championship.

“I think it’s great for 9- and 10-year-olds to feel that kind of support from the community, and to understand how much they do matter to this community,” said Josh Pike, manager of the Camas all-stars.

The Camas 9-10 stars are Parker Castellani, Boris Chrisensen, Sawyer Clifton, Thomas Clute, Cai Davis, Anthony Forner, Jared Forner, Mason Glassmire, Beau Harlan, Lukas Morse, Lucas Peterson, Brevin Pike, Teddy Wieczorek and Jack Williams. Pike coaches this team with the help of Joe Glassmire and Ted Wierczorek.

‘We talk about bringing energy and excellence. We knew if we committed to those things every practice and from the moment we showed up to the ballpark, the scoreboard would take care of itself,” Pike said.

“They’re great boys. The way they play the game — their hustle and their heart — is definitely a testament to their families.”

The state tournament begins for these boys Saturday, in Aberdeen.

“We’re going to go up there and we’re going to bring energy and excellence,” Pike said. “If we do those two things, we’re going to have fun.”
