Students graduate from WWU

Kyle Ebersole of Camas and Jessica Young of Washougal earned degrees from Western Washington University in fall quarter 2011. Ebersole earned a bachelor of arts in psychology, and Young earned a bachelor of arts in theater.

CYT presents ‘Bye Bye Birdie’

Christian Youth Theatre will perform the musical “Bye Bye Birdie” at Washougal High School’s Washburn Auditorium, 1201 39th St.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 and March 2; 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 and 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, March 3; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26 and March 4.

Pre-sale adult tickets are $12. Youth, senior and youth tickets are $9.

All tickets for the Saturday, Feb. 25 performance are $9. All tickets are $2 more at the door. These can be purchased at www.cytvanport.org.

There will be as special performance for school groups on Thursday, March 1 at 9:30 a.m. To reserve tickets, call 750-8550.

OCU names student to honor roll

Kayla Yraceburu of Camas has been named to the president’s honor roll at Oklahoma City University. To be named to the honor roll, students must earn at least a 3.9 GPA.

Locals named to dean’s list at Warner Pacific

Several students from Camas and Washougal were named to the dean’s list at Warner Pacific College.

To qualify, students must be enrolled full-time and earn at least a 3.5 GPA.

Students named to the list include Justin Boedeker, Suzanne Downs, Mariya Firstenburg, Teresa Fry, Tanya King, Thomas Kirk, Patricia Lusk, Tyber Parsons and Adam Wilde, all of Camas; and James Kamerath, Tia Lacy, Lance Lijewski, Michael Olson, Amanda Prince and Aaron Reyes, all of Washougal.

Iowa State University announces fall dean’s list

Jonathan Andrew Bauer of Camas has been named to the dean’s list at Iowa State University. To be named to the list, students must earn at least a 3.5 GPA and complete 12 credit hours during the semester.

Developmental screening set

There will be a free developmental screening for children from birth to age 5 who live within the boundaries of the Washougal School District.

The screening will take place by appointment from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15 at Hathaway Elementary School, 630 24th St.

Call Diana Akkinson at 896-9912 to schedule an appointment for children from birth to age 3; and Diane Shortt at 954-3020 for children ages 3 to 5.

WHS seeks career day volunteers

Washougal High School is seeking volunteers for career day on Wednesday, March 7 from 9:45 to 11 a.m.

Volunteers need to do two, 30 minute presentations about their jobs and what they do in a given day.

Those interested should call Marsha Spencer, career and technical education director, at 954-3121.

WHS Grad Night committee hosting pasta dinner benefit

The Washougal High School Grad Night committee is hosting a sweetheart pasta supper, silent auction and raffle from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The cost is $5 per person or $20 for a family of five. The raffle will include 40 baskets, and the silent auction will have 30 items.
