College savings plan starts open enrollment Nov. 1 Guaranteed Educational Tuition, Washington state's college savings program, will open for enrollment on Nov. 1. It is a tax-free program, including withdrawls when used for tuition, housing and other qualified college expenses.
Edward Jones financial services firm was recently named the area's top employer. In a ranking conducted by The Oregonian and WorkplaceDynamics of Exton, Pa., 75 companies were named Oregon Top Workplaces for 2013. They were divided into 10 large companies 15 medium companies and 50 small companies by the number of people they employ in Oregon and southwest Washington.
The owners of a local business that sells coffee, fruit smoothies and muffins is hoping to receive many food donations for the Inter-Faith Treasure house. Squeeze & Grind owners Jeramy and Marcie Wilcox are accepting non-perishable food through Tuesday, Nov. 26.

Mount Pleasant sets fall carnival Mount Pleasant Elementary School will host its annual fall carnival Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. It will include games and activities for the whole family. Smith, Hogan are good for Camas Camas is a solid, forward thinking and prosperous community. One of the reasons for this is their progressive form of government that includes an experienced, balanced and most importantly, stable, City Council. With keeping a deep bench of good, hard working members of the community, Camas can be looked at as a model for other communities. Two of Camas' Council are up for re-election this November, Councilman Steve Hogan and Councilwoman Melissa Smith. I know both of these people well and admire them a great deal.
