This is the third year that the credit union sponsors the holiday dinner basket program.

Lacamas Community Credit Union volunteers created festive gift baskets to give to members in need as part of its third annual holiday dinner basket program.

The program allows members to nominate fellow members — or themselves — to receive a festive holiday basket with food items for a traditional holiday dinner.

LCCU President/CEO Kathleen Romane started the dinner basket program in 2008 in response to worsening economic conditions.

“With high unemployment, we know that some of our members could use a helping hand to make the Christmas season more enjoyable,” she said. “Providing a holiday meal that can be shared with family serves as a reminder that we care about our members’ well-being.”

Credit union staff shopped for grocery items and gift cards, and assembled 20 baskets. The effort is part of the LCCU’s 2010 Community Partnership Program, which raises funds for its Community Partnerships through “skip payment” programs, Entertainment Book sales and other efforts throughout the year.
