Carl D. English

Carl Dennis English died Sept. 10, 2010, at home in Vancouver, after a long battle with colon cancer. He was 70.

Carl did not want a funeral. Instead, a party will be thrown to celebrate his life and achievements. A potluck will take place Oct. 10, at 2 p.m., at English Estate Winery. All who knew Carl are welcome. Friends and family are instructed by Carl to “cry a little, laugh a lot, and dance all night.” For more information, call Brown’s Funeral Home at 834-3692.

Gertrude E. ‘Liz’ Johnson

Gertrude “Liz” Elizabeth Johnson died peacefully Sept. 12, 2010, at her home in Tacoma, Wash. She was 84.

There will be no public service. A natural burial at sea will be held in the Pacific Ocean. Brown’s Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas is in charge of arrangements.

Richard ‘Rick’ Morris

Richard “Rick” Morris died Sept. 17, 2010. He was 54.

Jeraldine Evelyn Nelson died peacefully Sept. 13, 2010, at the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver. She was 75.

Ethel M. Owens

Ethel Mae Owens died peacefully Sept. 23, 2010, at the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver. She was 91.

Steven J. Piontek

Steven John Piontek, of Washougal, died Sept. 26, 2010, in Vancouver. He was 56. He was born Aug. 31, 1954, in Vancouver to Clarence and Dorothy Piontek. Steven was raised in Washougal where he lived with his family all his life. He had a great sense of humor and a fantastic memory. John Wayne was his hero and he loved Country Western music. Steven also played the harmonica, hooked rugs and painted.

Algird Sylvester Zolp died Sept. 24, 2010, at Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver. He was 88.
