Four people injured in Washougal crash

One driver cited by police for negligent driving

Four people were sent to the hospital on Thursday following an accident involving two vehicles in Washougal.

Just before noon, a 2003 Cadillac Escalade driven by Saul Romo Torres, of Vancouver, was traveling southbound on 32nd street and was in the right turn lane as it proceeded westbound onto Highway 14. Another vehicle, a 2001 Audi A4 driven by Kenneth Werner, of North Bonneville, was travelling westbound on Highway 14 approaching the 32nd Street turnoff.

The Audi then struck the left side of the Cadillac, which then came to a rest blocking the eastbound lane. The Audi came to a rest blocking the eastbound left turn lane.

Among those transported to PeaceHeath Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver were Werner, 19, who received a head laceration, and his passengers, Angel Barajas, 18, of Seattle, with a head contusion, and Katy Warren, 18, of Vancouver, who needed treatment for shock.

In the Cadillac, Arturo Medina, 26, of Vancouver, received a fractured rib and internal injuries and was transported to PeaceHealth. Two other passengers, Javier Meza Cordova, 35, of Vancouver, and Roberto Herrera, 25, of Vancouver, both complained of chest pain but were not taken to the hospital.

Torres, 27, also complained of chest pain but did not seek medical attention. He was cited for second degree negligent driving for failing to yield to the right of way.
