On the sidelines: Camas swimmers capture district championship

Revenge tasted sweet for the Camas High School boys swimmers Saturday.

The Papermakers racked up 368 points during the 3A district swimming meet at Kelso High School, left league champion Mountain View in their wake, and captured their third district title in the last four years.

The Camas quartet of Iam Ulmer, Jake Yraceburu, Kevin Li and Trent Harimoto clinched first place in the 200-meter medley relay. Nick Kabel finished first in the 50 and the 100 freestyle races, and helped lead the Papermakers to second place in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. Yraceburu grabbed first in the 100 breastroke and fourth in the 50 free.

Ulmer earned second in the 200 individual medley. Jonathan Shilling snatched fourth, Jeffrey Lee followed in fifth, Joseph Wunderlich finished eighth and Hayden Pinney notched ninth in the same event. Li took third in the 100 breaststroke.

Connor Sullivan and Seth Albert went 3-4 in the 200 free. Harimoto and Li claimed 4-5 in the 100 butterfly. Harimoto and Joey Stitzel placed 5-6 in the 50 free. Stitzel and Alastair Graham notched 5-6 in the 100 free. Nick Panebianco, Sullivan and Shilling snatched 4-5-6 in the 500 free. Ulmer and Lee clinched 5-6 in the 100 backstroke.
