Yinger pitches no-hitter, Barr hits for the cycle in same game

Opening day 2011 will go down in history for the Camas High School baseball team.

On Saturday afternoon in Camas, Kurt Yinger tossed a no-hitter and Austin Barr hit for the cycle to lead the Papermakers to an 18-0 victory over Molalla, Ore.

Yinger struck out 10 of the 15 batters he faced. He also drove in three runs at the plate. Barr went 4-for-4 at the dish with 6 RBI.

Faulkner knocked in three runs, Conner King plated two and Zach Carter and Justin Webb each added an RBI.

Camas scored nine runs in the bottom of the first inning on 10 hits, before scoring six more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Thirteen different batters had at least one of the team’s 19 hits.

The Papermakers beat Union 11-3 Monday. Logan Grindy singled, doubled, tripled and drove in four runs. Faulkner added three hits and scored three runs. Zach Carter pitched four solid innings for the victory. He allowed two runs, four hits and collected six strikeouts.
