Members of the Camas and Washougal fire departments added a touch of pink to their uniforms recently in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2444 President Kevin Bergstrom, the union supported the effort. “The uniforms were purchased by the firefighters and approved by the fire chiefs to help bring attention to breast cancer in our community,” he said. Breast cancer is a disease that has touched many lives. “It’s good community outreach because it brings visibility to the issue,” Brown said. “It supports a good cause.” The local emergency service providers plan to wear their pink shirts throughout the month. “I’ve been surprised by the response,” Bergstrom said. “The public has really shown support.”
