A couple that met at a pub in Boulder, Col., three years ago, plans to open a cafe and bar in downtown Washougal.

Kevin Credelle and Alex Yost expect to serve breakfast, lunch and happy hour dishes in OurBar, at 1887 Main, in April 2013. Dinner service will begin in July.

Credelle and Yost, of Washougal, plan to provide “lovingly crafted, homemade and affordable food designed to pair with beer and wine,” according to their website www.our-bar.com.

“We source as much of our meat, produce and dairy from local farmers as possible and will frequently change our menu to embrace seasonal availability,” the site states.

“We chose the name OurBar, because we want people to feel a sense of ownership and pride as they make OurBar their favorite neighborhood spot,” Yost said. “We believe that the term ‘bar’ means more than just a place to drink. It is a community gathering place.”

She is a graduate of the Oregon Culinary Institute and has worked as sous chef and creative partner with two James Beard nominated chefs.

Credelle is a self-taught cook who has established himself as an experienced kitchen manager for more than 10 years.

1887 Main, a mixed-use building recently completed by Lone Wolf Investments, earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. It was also recently awarded the 2012 Sustainability Award from the Portland chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

The building is equipped with 40 solar panels on the roof.

“Our goal is to grow with the town, becoming a fixture and a catalyst for further community prosperity,” Credelle said.
