The Washougal girls wrestling team captured the Clark County Championship Saturday, at Union High School.

The spotlight shined on Camas and Washougal this weekend, and both towns rose to the occassion.

On Friday night, the Camas girls basketball team hosted their fourth Hoops 4 Pink fundraiser for breast cancer research. A packed warehouse of people in pink shirts were treated to a 49-35 victory for the Papermakers over the Mountain View Thunder. The win gave the Camas girls a strong footing on second place in league before they face all of the teams one more time.

On Saturday, the Washougal girls wrestlers captured the Clark County tournament championship for the second time in three years. The Panthers had six finalists, and Jessica Eakins and Haven Camden walked off the mats as county champions.

Emily Alder-Storm, Tara Duey, Erin Locke and Jessica Biron also made the finals for Washougal, and settled for second place. Sara Sanchez and Romney Kellogg both took third, and Meagan Neu followed in fourth. Wyatt Eakins grabbed fourth for the Panther boys, and Kyle Eakins snagged sixth.

Marcus Hartman and Taryn Lommasson both reached the county finals for Camas, and finished in second place. Hartman wrestled tough against defending state champion Michael Nguyen of Evergreen. Lommasson pushed Kassi Strano of Battle Ground.

Tye Lommasson took third for the Papermakers. Shauna Aheran, Austin Miller, Tyler Weiss and Matty Thompson clinched fourth. Bryan Elliott finished fifth and P.J. Baderstscher placed sixth.
