A beautiful cross from Nathan Beasley and a header into the net by Adam Allison propeled the Papermaker boys soccer team to a 1-0 victory against Bishop Blanchet in the first round of the state tournament Wednesday, at Doc Harris Stadium.

Mountain View defeated Camas 2-1 in the quarterfinals Saturday, at Doc Harris Stadium. The first goal of the game didn’t come until the final 20 minutes. Houston Taie played a little pinball with the goal posts and found the back of the net for the Papermakers. But then the Thunder struck twice and held on for the last 11 minutes to advance to the Final Four. Camas finished with a record of 16-3.

SOFTBALL: Camas beat Bonney Lake 9-3 Friday to return to the state tournament. Amee Aarhus, Lena Richards and Sarah Nidick each had three hits. Richards and Nidick both knocked in two runs and Aarhus scored three times. Harli Hubbard held Bonney Lake to six hits and racked up seven strikeouts.

TRACK AND FIELD: Washougal senior Katie Wright leaped to state in the high jump (5 feet, 2 inches) and the long jump (16-1.5), with second-place finishes in each event. Mackenzie Pfeifer placed third in the javelin (101-2) and Michelle Greear grabbed third in the discus (103-3).

Sean Eustis earned second in the 3,200-meter run (9 minutes, 48.29 seconds) and third in the 1,600 (4:25.73). Nathan Milojevic notched second on the pole vault (13-6) and Isaac Bischoff took third in the discus (137-9).
