The community will celebrate a snowy Hometown Holidays tonight in downtown Camas.

Activites scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. will begin with the Christmas tree lighting in front of the Liberty Theatre, 315 N.E. Fourth Ave. Nearby there will also be photos with Santa, crafts and treats — all available inside warm downtown buildings.

Parks and Recreation Special Events Coordinator Krista Bashaw said only the outdoor activities have been cancelled.

“Due to weather conditions and school closures, all of the scheduled outside musical performances and activities have been cancelled,” she said. “We hope to see you in downtown Camas tonight.”

In addition, Hometown Holidays will coincide with First Friday, when downtown businesses will be open for extended hours and offer special deals and giveaways, and the Second Story Gallery at the Camas Public Library, 625 N.E. Fourth Ave. will host a reception from 5 to 8 p.m., for its featured artist for December, photographer Mark Forbes.

To accommodate the smaller event, Bashaw said downtown streets will be closed from Third to Fifth avenues on Birch Street and from Adams to Cedar on Fourth Avenue.
