Independence Day activities are planned

Fourth of July celebrations will include events for all ages

Area Fourth of July festivities will feature music, food and fireworks.

Concerts to be held at Marina Park

The Port of Camas-Washougal will offer a local celebration at Marina Park, 24 S. “A” St., Washougal.

A “patriotic-themed” children’s bike parade (for ages 3-11) will begin at 2:30 p.m.

Demonstrations of a “flying water bike” also known as a Jetovator, are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.

The Schwing Daddies will perform from 6 to 7:30 p.m., followed by Big Night Out, from 8:30 to 10 p.m.

A fireworks display, sponsored by the City of Washougal, is expected to begin at 10 p.m. Attendees are advised to bring blankets and low-back chairs to enjoy the show.

Admission is free.

Event parking will be available adjacent to the Westlie-Ford dealership. Parking assistance will be provided by Boy Scout Troop 324, and tractor shuttles will be available.

Fort Vancouver is ready for annual celebration

The entertainment lineup for Independence Day at Fort Vancouver will include 1995 Camas High School graduate Shawn Lewis and his wife Natasha Neuschwander.

Known as “Beat Frequency,” the duo is scheduled to perform from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m. Last year, they were on the NBC singing competition “The Voice.”

Other performers will be The Strange Tones, 5 Guys Named Moe, Full Zoo and Hit Machine.

The gates will open at 8 a.m., and the entertainment starts at noon. The fireworks are scheduled to launch at 10:05 p.m.

A children’s patriotic parade will begin at 4 p.m. Other activities include guided walking tours of Officers Row and the Vancouver Barracks.

There will also be arts and crafts and commercial vendors.

General admission tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the gate. Children ages 12 and younger will be admitted for free.

Street parking in downtown Vancouver will be available free of charge.

C-TRAN shuttles will be provided at the north side of Westfield Vancouver Mall, 8700 N.E. Vancouver Mall Drive.

The shuttles will run every 15 minutes, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., and return service will be available immediately following the show.

Round trip tickets will cost $3 per person.
