Camas gymnasts stay in command

Papermakers host Battle Ground and Prairie Saturday, at VEGA

The Camas High School gymnastics team racked up 168.52 points to beat Union by 23.62 points Saturday, at the Northpointe Gymnastics Center in Vancouver.

Sophomore Shannon Ross snagged first place for the Papermakers in the all-around competition with 34.7 points. She finished in first place on the floor (9.2) and the vault (9.2), and second place on the beam (8.6) and the bars (7.7).

Freshman Ashley Carter earned second place in the all-around with 33.35 points. She won the beam (8.85), took third on the floor (9.0) and placed sixth on the vault (8.4).

Gabrielle Bird grabbed fourth place in the all-around with 32.4 points. She finished sixth on the floor (8.7), beam (8.3) and bars (7.2).

Caleigh Lofstead claimed first place on the bars (7.9), fourth on the floor (8.6) and fifth in the all-around (32.3). Alexis Sabatini earned fifth on the bars (7.3), fifth on the beam (8.5) and sixth in the all-around (32.15).

Riley Truitt secured second place on the floor (9.2). Hope Richter earned third on the beam (8.55) and fifth on the floor (8.9). Hannah Marquis finished fourth on the bars (7.4) and Tamaki Murata took fifth on the vault (8.5).

The Papermakers host Battle Ground and Prairie Saturday, at VEGA. Events start at 4 p.m.

The 4A district meet takes place Saturday, Feb. 8, at Northpointe.
